Catherina Rotterdam

Situated in the heart of Rotterdam

The Catherina was built in 1920 as coastguard cutter with auxiliary sails and minesweeper for the German navy. The hull of the ship was originally of wood on steel trusses. In 1955 the ship was extended in Belgium and the wooden skin was replaced by steel. Until 1982 did the vessel as a fishing boat, but since 1985 is used as a training ship with excellent sailing characteristics.

Ideal for the warm summer months, the ship sails on the Baltic Sea in the winter is the ship in an ideal spot in the ferry port of Rotterdam, in the center with a great view. From the moment you look towards Hotel New York, you have a beautiful view on the new Erasmus bridge and the "Kop van Zuid", sometimes called: "The Manhattan on the Maas".
