Who we are

Slaapschepen organises temporary project accommodation on board ships, from initial request to implementation on site. We take care of the entire process: from design and operational management to daily coordination. We remain involved throughout the stay and ensure that everything runs smoothly. Wherever there is water, we can quickly and efficiently realise suitable accommodation solutions.

As an organisation, we are growing and have ambitious plans. This means that, in addition to your daily work, you may also be asked to participate in (change) projects. The atmosphere is informal, open and entrepreneurial. You shape your role independently and work within a close-knit team that values decisiveness and ownership.

What You Will Do

You identify and respond appropriately to unsafe and undesirable situations during your patrol rounds. You come into contact with residents, visitors, and of course your colleagues, which requires you to have strong communication skills. Furthermore, your tasks consist of the:

  • Maintain shipboard safety and ensure a safe work and living environment.
  • Report and follow up on security incidents.
  • Assist with logistics from suppliers.
  • Participate in emergency response procedures (BHV).
  • Take over reception duties during night hours.

The working hours are from 23:00 – 7:30 hours.

Your Profile

Our ideal night watch is alert, service-oriented, and can handle resistance well. Furthermore, you possess:

  • Vocational level working and thinking skills; ideally with a level 2 Security Officer diploma.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a security officer, preferably in an international setting.
  • Knowledge of surveillance and security protocols (preferred).
  • Fluent in English. Proficiency in the Dutch language is a plus.
  • VOG (certificate of good conduct), or willingness to obtain one at the company’s expense.
  • You are willing to live/stay on board for the duration of the contract.
  • STCW-Advanced certificate, or willingness to obtain it at the company’s expense.
  • Due to legal requirements, we can only consider applications from candidates who are eligible to work within the EU.

What We Offer

We offer you a 7-month contract with the possibility of extension. In addition, we provide:

  • 40-hour work week.
  • Versatile position in a pleasant work environment with room for your input.
  • Salary between € 2.636,88 and € 3.192,41 gross per month (scale 5 according to Dutch hospitality CLA).
  • Additional pay for irregular shifts.
  • A net allowance of €100 for travel expenses from your home country to the Netherlands upon commencement of employment and vice versa upon termination of employment.
  • 25 vacation days per year (full-time basis).
  • Pension contributions via the Dutch Hospitality & Catering Pension Fund.
  • Board and lodging
